Don't know how to build a website? Not sure if you have computer programs that will do it? We can help here too. There are many computer programs that do everything you need for a little website and they're completely free. We have even found a lot of them for you. (NOTE: We are not affiliated with or compensated by any of these software makers.)

First of all, you need to have stuff to put into a website. Here you will want word processors, drawing & painting programs, photo & digital image software, and maybe even audio and video editors for home movies and stuff. The only limit to your creativity is your own imagination.

An excellent choice for all of these is also an all-in-one Software Suite called MultiMedia Office. It easily rivals Microsoft Office and has the unbeatable price of FREE. It is available at Plata Software.

Next will be something to put all your cool stuff together in a way that will be readable on the internet. These are what are called HTML editors, and there are many good FREE programs for this. A few of them are PageBreeze Free HTML Editor; Nvu Web Authoring System; and 1st Page 2000. MultiMedia Office (above) can also do this. All of these are completely FREE.

And lastly you will need something to move your website from your computer to the computer that will deliver it to all your friends and family when they want to see it. The computer you are moving it to is called a Website Host or Web Server. There is really only one program to recommend here. We use it our self and it is, of course, FREE. It is called Filezilla, the free FTP solution. FTP stands for File Transfer Protocol and it is the "language" that your computer will use to talk with the other computer. You only need the Filezilla "Client", not the Filezilla "Server."
